Many of our brands recently got big kudos by Outside Magazine, Backpacker Magazine, Outdoor Gear Lab and a rad blog called Distressed Mullet - For The People Who Paddle. Thought we'd share.
Sierra Designs' DriDown included in Outside Magazine's 40 Most Significant.
Outside Magazine is celebrating its 40th Anniversary in many wonderful ways. One of them is an editors' piece called "The 40 Most Significant Tools and Toys Ever Designed", in which Sierra Designs' DriDown Insulation was named!
Grab a glimpse of this write up -- “But five years ago, Sierra Designs revolutionized the (down) fill by releasing a version treated with a hydrophobic polymer that repels water and helps feathers keep their structure.” Read about DriDown and all of Outside's selected tools and toys here. Happy 40th, Outside!
Kelty Usually Stays Outdoors. Until Backpacker Beckons From the Hall.
Backpacker Magazine has named the Kelty Gunnison Tent 2.3 to its Gear Hall of Fame in the March 2017 issue!
The writers, Elisabeth Kwak-Hefferan and Scott Yorko, selected 20 items and commented, "There's a reason we keep coming back to these 20 products season after season."
See what they say about the Gunnison 2.3 and all their other picks in the Backpacker Gear Hall of Fame Gallery.
The Distressed Mullet Paddle Blog finds Ultimate Direction to be
ultra for paddling.
(Did you know that a mullet isn't only a bad hair-do, but also a family of ray-finned fish, with a proclivity for leaping out of the water. And Distressed Mullet is a blog for the people who paddle!)
In her long search for the perfect hydration pack for
paddle racing, reviewer Lisa Schell tried the PB Adventure Vest 2.0.
Lisa starts by asking, “What’s a paddler who wants to carry multiple
bladders, an ample array of snacks and some safety gear to do? … Look to the
other brands of adventure racing packs, that’s what.”
Her criteria was lightweight material, ample capacity for multiple 2L bladders, storage capacity for full range of safety gear/eletronics, and comfy fit. Read Lisa's review here to see how if this is her go-to vest for adventure racing!
Three brands. Four sleeping bags.
All rate big with Outdoor Gear Lab, including naming us 'Editor's Choice'!
Outdoor Gear Lab published their Best Camping Sleeping bags of 2017.
The Lab says, “After over 200 hours of camping, we reveal which bags are the best value and which are the warmest and most comfortable.”
Their highest honor, Editor's Choice went to Slumberjack's Country Squire 0 bag, being the most comfortable bag tested! The Wenzel Grande earned a Top Pick, being the warmest bag for the price. The Kelty Calipso 20 snagged the Best Buy title, being the warmest camping bag tested, relative to weight. And the Wenzel Conquest was included in the Top
